About Trenton Baseball Association
About Us
The Trenton Baseball Association (TBA) was originally launched on July 1, 1984, with the creation of by-laws. Paul Martin decided that he wanted to get a group of kids together to give them a better opportunity for baseball. Several other like-minded parents worked with Paul to formulate their ideas in the years leading up to the TBA's birth. Before 1984, baseball was a city-run program that predominantly took place during the day. Paul wanted to offer more evening opportunities and weekend tournaments, and his ideas grew with the help of Terry Teifer, Al Lucidi, Mark Ottenbreit, and numerous others. Even after their kids aged out of the TBA, many of the founding fathers remained active in the association. They continued to help promote baseball and softball to the next generation of players.
As the association grew, it too evolved. In 1997, Collette Romanowski and Judy Lughermo created the softball section of the TBA.
The TBA began with just 35 kids. Today, we have upwards of 350 registered players each year. The association has proud traditions and a deep connection to the City of Trenton. The TBA's impact was realized in 1994 when that first group of 8-year-olds won the MHSAA Class B State Championship. The TBA continues to grow as it has added travel baseball, Trenton Travelers, and travel softball, Trenton Blast, to its registration options.
Our mission is to provide every child in Trenton with the opportunity to play organized baseball or softball and to develop the skills and sportsmanship that will accompany them throughout life.
